Mavenseed is a CG private tutoring education web site. We help connect artists in need of help with respected instructors in the topics of need. We understand that there is a place and time for a full online course, or education materials, but realize that some projects, or sole determination to improve ones self worth require an on demand private tutor.
The benefit of private one on one tutoring is that you are able to address your personal concerns, questions and goals immediately. There is no running through topics you already know in software manuals, or course requirements. Our instructors work with your schedule as best they can and are available to you for the requested time. Example: If you are interested in learning how to do an scene that requires a water shader with mental ray, you could find the instructor that covers those areas and ask those specific questions.

We are pretty excited about our name and branding. The name itself encompasses our main goal and what we strive for with each student. We view our instructors as "Mavens" or experts in their respective fields. These Mavens plant seeds of knowledge into the artist they help in hopes to help them become Mavens themselves, or continue to grow their knowledge. Pretty deep stuff eh? :)
Skype
All of our instructors are required to have a Skype account. We have found this to be an extremely useful tool for video chat, Voice lessons and file transfers between students and our instructors. Skype has also release a great screen sharing functionality built into the new beta available for download.
Online Tools
It will be unique for each instructor but Mavenseed is currently utilizing acrobat.com as an additional tool for our instructors to interact with students. Acrobat.com offers a screen sharing opportunity, video and file transfer.
Each Instructor is given a personal dedicated Mavenseed e-mail account that he or she monitors daily. Though the majority of training will take place through our online tools and Skype conferencing.
We are currently offering a rate of 80USD per hour with our instructors. We find this a fair rate to ensure our instructors are paid for their time, and we can continue to keep the lights on for the site. The great thing about this is that with your tuition going into an escrow, any hours not used with a specific instructor, may be applied to another instructor.
During your initial registration with the instructor you will be required to submit payment for the hours you are booking with them. But funds are not released until training has been provided. This helps protect the Instructor and the Student. If you are able to achieve your educational goals less then the time booked, you will be refunded your un-used tuition, or it may be held as credit for future training.
This is another great aspect of private tutoring from Mavenseed. Instructor availability is unique to each instructor and to each student. Be sure to speak with your instructor to schedule the training times that work best with your schedule.
No you don't. If the instructor invites you to join an acrobat.com session, you are able to login as a guest with no sign-up required.
